Lucrece: Video Introduction

Thank you to Robin Hizme for returning once again to offer her introduction to “Lucrece.”

Robin Hizme teaches English and Humanities at Queens College, CUNY, where she also directs the collaboration between Queens College and Townsend Harris High School. When stressed, she recites Shakespearean insults to an imaginary audience; when serene, she composes poetry with her magnetic Shakespeare’s Love Kit.

Many thanks to my friend Joey Bianco of Whim Wham for the animated video elements.

  1. What a fascinating survey of the poem. I appreciate the way in which its contents were made so relevant to modern times.
It would have been very helpful if those three special and erudite literary terms had been spelt out for people like me, who would like to be able afterwards to look them up and explore the devices further.

    1. That’s true. I had a hard time hearing how they could be spelled.

I also saw/heard a YouTube reading of the play. It was wonderful but he left out a lot. I’ll go over it again and mark my copy of the poem to read it infull later this week. Thanks
