Richard III: Video Introduction

Thank you to Robin Hizme for returning to provide an introduction to Richard III.

Robin Hizme teaches English and Humanities at Queens College, CUNY, where she also directs the collaboration between Queens College and Townsend Harris High School. When stressed, she recites Shakespearean insults to an imaginary audience; when serene, she composes poetry with her magnetic Shakespeare’s Love Kit.

Many thanks to my friend Joey Bianco of Whim Wham for the animated video elements.

  1. Thank you Professor Hizme. You remind me of a production I saw in April 2016. I don’t remember which scene — maybe I will when I read the play — but there was a point where I had a visceral feeling that I was at a Trump rally.

  2. Interesting and convincing parallels between then and now! And I appreciate your guidance as to the psychological tricks (or techniques) which Richard uses. I look forward to re-reading the wooing scene and looking more carefully at how he wins over a woman who so blatantly hates him at the start.
