Here are some helpful Taming of the Shrew resources:
- The Royal Shakespeare Company has a fantastic page of resources for The Taming of the Shrew. It’s intended for students, but really, aren’t we all students?
- Again, Course Hero’s infographic, character map, and other resources for The Taming of the Shrew may be useful.
- A full production of The Taming of the Shrew from Shakespeare by the Sea is available on YouTube.
- A few articles about modern perspectives on The Taming of the Shrew:
ThoughtCo.: ‘The Taming of the Shrew’: A Feminist Reading
The Guardian: The Taming of the Shrew: ‘This is not a woman being crushed’
Vox: Is it possible to make a feminist Taming of the Shrew? 2 new adaptations try.
Thanks for Dan Hainsworth for letting us use his Shakespeare icons, as shown above right.
I would also recommend PBS Shakespeare Uncovered, Morgan Freeman and The Taming of the Shrew, Season 2, Episode 3. This video shows scenes from various productions and also includes commentary from actors who played the parts of Kate and Petruchio.
Amazon Prime also has the BBC production from the late 70s with John Cleese. A wonderful Petruchio.
